MAJOR BY DESIGN
The Story
House of Major began its life as "Major Vintage", a boutique dedicated to sourcing and reselling rare vintage finds. Over time, as founder and designer Jared Major evolved in his own artistry, the brand grew with him—shifting from curating pieces of the past to reimagining them into the future.
In 2025, following the debut of his Homegrown collection at the Gibbes Museum of Art during Art Charleston Week, Jared officially established House of Major: a futurist’s atelier where discarded textiles are repurposed as wearable art.
The Artistry
1-of-1 Philosophy: No repeats, no reproductions.
Each piece is a custom original, a singular work of wearable art.
ANCENSTRAL FOUNDATIONS

“My uncle, Hezekiah ‘John’ Singleton, was an expert shoe cobbler and leather smith.
For more than three decades, he ran his own shop in North Charleston, South Carolina,
where he repaired shoes, renewed materials, and kept the spirit of craftsmanship alive within his community.
His approach to working with materials was inherently sustainable long before the term became a movement. Inside his workshop, I observed his process of design, repair, and imagination.
Those early lessons made him my first mentor.
His influence lives at the core of House of Major,
where I continue his legacy through my own practice of regenerative design.”
- Jared Major

SLOWING DOWN ON FASHION WASTE

The Major Initiative is a cinematic exposé on the industry’s devastating impact on both people and planet.
Each second, a garbage truck’s worth of clothing is discarded.
This short film unveils the hidden costs of fashion’s obsession with speed,
while tracing its role in climate change, polluted waters, and microplastic-laced ecosystems.
